(as of may 2020 state govt cleared 10k cr for this year, but project not fully operated)

Kaleshwaram Project Cost Reduction Strategies

  1. Buying Power from NTPC Instead of Private Solar Panel Companies (3000MW)
  2. low water intensive crops
  3. as per govt 10k cr investment /year 1lah cr value crop and wapcos 2017 report 1 rupee investment 1.5 return for agri
  4. Solar Power Plants by Government
  5. Artificial Gravity Canals
  6. Utilizing water carefully
  7. *Nominal  Charges from farmers** (who knows)
  8. kaleshwaram power bill = 5.8% of 2021 budget.

Kaleshwaram Project budget & Annual maintenance

Budget 50,000 cr increase to 80K and then 120K cr in 2019.

Loans

Andhra bank 7400 Cr

Pnb 11,400 cr

Power Corporation Of India 12,000 + 7700 cr

7400+11400+12000+7700= 38,500Cr @interest avg

kaleshwaram project controversies:

Oppositions /people Government
agriculture: earning 15,000 spending 50,000 there is no other way than lift irrigation

not only for agri but also industrial and drinking water.

Power: 5500 for 2 TMC, if 2+ 1 7500 Megawatts. ground water increases so borewells use less energy, Operating cost decreases in future,
Budget 50,000 cr increase to 80K and then 120K cr. Its the effect of inflation,  budget will increase & operating cost will reduce in future

Kaleshwaram Project Achievements

Impossible to possible (200% effort)
balancing cost 50% effort

(trs did what other neglected) (increased groundwater & yield of crops)

made artificial reservoir capacity 240TMC+*

Future: droughtless telangana (huge investment on agriculture)

Largest Tunnels
4th largest Power consumption
