Average monthly tax paid by telangana citizen

if a perosn making money selling inr 100 purchased product at amazon platform at 300 and earns 1 lakh netincome and spends 10k on alachol, 5k on clothing, 20k on grocessories, 10k on fuel, 10k on school fees, 1k on property tax .. how much he paying tax to governmt indirect and direct tax

A. Indirect tax – the GST (and other indirect levies) that the person pays while buying goods/services.
B. Direct tax – the personal income-tax (if any) on the net profit the person earns from the business.

  1. Indirect taxes paid while spending the 1-lakh net income

Expense item Amount Likely GST / indirect tax rate Approx. tax paid
Alcohol (10 000) 10 000 28 % GST + State excise (assumed 20 % total) ≈ 2 000
Clothing (5 000) 5 000 5 %–12 % GST (take 12 %) 600
Groceries (20 000) 20 000 0 % on most food items 0
Fuel (10 000) 10 000 Excise duty + VAT (assumed 30 %) ≈ 3 000
School fees (10 000) 10 000 Exempt 0
Property tax (1 000) 1 000 Local body tax 1 000
Total indirect tax ≈ 6 600

So roughly ₹6 600 of the 56 000 spent leaks away as indirect taxes.

  1. Direct tax on the business profit

  • Revenue: ₹300 × (1 00 000 ÷ 200) ≈ ₹150 000 (he sells 500 units at ₹300 each).
  • Cost of goods: ₹100 × 500 units = ₹50 000.
  • Gross profit: ₹150 000 – ₹50 000 = ₹100 000.
  • Business expenses: Nil (only personal expenses listed).
  • Taxable business income: ₹100 000.

Under India’s current individual tax slabs, income up to ₹2.5 lakh is tax-free.
Hence direct income-tax = ₹0.

Summary

  • Indirect taxes paid: ≈ ₹6 600
  • Direct income-tax: ₹0
